Sue Stitt
Sue has lived on the island for over 25 years. The varied scenery and the vibrant events held here have been her inspiration. and her aim is to encapsulate what makes the island such a special place. Sue is a keen sailor, and has participated in multiple Cowes Weeks, Round the Island races and other cruising and racing events locally and in far flung places around the world; all of these experiences have come together to make their mark on her designs. Sue creates wonderful images in a style that harks back to the travel posters of the 1920's and 30's. They are Giclee printed, Digital Artworks in limited editions.
Sue is able to personalise a print, for instance - a yacht can be changed to your sail colours and number, hair colour, hat, shorts/trousers colour can be changed, sailing team colours etc. can be changed or perhaps you want to be in the crowd of the Seaview Regatta image? etc.
Prices vary for this service from £25 to £75 approx. (in addition to the price of the print) depending upon the amount of changes and complexity of detail. It can be a great way to personalise a print for a special birthday or wedding present. Get in contact with the Gallery for more information and to order.
Advances in the digital world have transformed the way Sue approaches her art and portrays her creativity. She loves the freedom and diversity that the digital world allows. Her current pieces showcase the result of much research on how to use vector apps on the iPad to create digital images. This has been a very rewarding experience with a high level of excellence. Although not considered a traditional technique in which to create, she enjoys drawing and designing on the touchscreen which continues to be a constantly new challenge for every new piece she designs.

Sue says, "Previously when working for Usborne Publishing as a children's book illustrator, I painted with LUMA concentrated watercolours which faded rapidly when exposed to light. Now, my images are Giclee printed locally on Archival Matt, 315gsm, 100% cotton rag which captures the clarity and brightness I strive for, and importantly this method produces a picture that has excellent longevity. So far, I have chosen to create limited edition prints with a total number of 25 - 350. When the run comes to a close, my image file is then deleted."
